Episode 31 – Christina Coady

Today’s interview is with Christina Coady, one of the brewers at Folly Brewpub in Toronto. Folly specializes in saisons and farmhouse ales, but truly, there is enough variety to please any beer drinker. Pair their Dovercourt Pale Ale with something savoury from their menu and you’re all set! Christina is generous with her time and I thank her for it.

Crystal and Tara Luxmore, aka the Beer Sisters, do a live tasting every Wednesday on their Facebook and Instagram Live feeds. Yours truly was the guest this past Wednesday. Watch the video on the Harpy Hour Facebook page! It is a lot of fun to do events like these.

Call the Harpy Hour Hotline: 1-833-85-HARPY (1-833-854-2779). What is your gateway craft beer for newbies? All calls air on Monday mini-episodes; the number is toll-free in the US and Canada.

Finally, find the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Stitcher. Rating, reviewing, and recommending does wonders. I thank you in advance. Say hello on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Untappd! I will see you on Monday! Cheers!

Episode 22 – Jen Nadwodny of Dieu du Ciel

Y’all, I know this episode is late. Like, so late. But I will say that it is worth the delay as it features probably my favourite Canadian craft brewer. (Oh, lbr, yes, they are my favourite.) Dieu du Ciel has been brewing the best beers since 1998 and they show no signs of stopping. Their brews were instrumental in my “beer-ucation”. I talked with one of their brewers, the fabulous Jen Nadwodny. It was a fun chat and I am sure you will enjoy as much as I did.

I am finishing up a contract gig at CFRC, Kingston’s local community/campus radio station. I am on the air there every Saturday morning from 8-10 am with my partner. Check it out on their website–which streams all over the world–or download their Android/iPhone app that does the same. It’s a bit of goofy fun but I love doing it.

Oh hey, I am in the latest issue of Kingston Life! You can find the link to read about my passion for this podcast and for this city.

Listen to the latest episodes via this website, or head on over to iTunes or Stitcher to get your HH fix during your day! I appreciate any reviews you leave on either site as it makes sure that I can continue to talk to great ladies in beer (and cider and spirits). Social media is a great way to get in touch with me; I’m active on all the usual channels: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

I thank you for listening and I thank you for all the support! I’m toying with the idea of Friday episodes! Thoughts?

Episode 20 – Burial Brewing Company, Asheville NC

Alas, we’ve come to the end of my trip down South to visit breweries.

We are ending it on a damn high note, though. My final Southeastern US interview is with Jess Reiser, one of the owners/founders of Burial Brewing Company in Asheville, NC. Burial was probably hands down one of the most tasty and inventive breweries I had the pleasure to go to….as you can probably tell from the very tipsy mini-episode I believe I posted when I reviewed two (!) flights of their beer. I talked to Jess via Skype before Christmas about Burial’s start and an exciting new development for their future. I thank her and every single lady I had the pleasure to meet and interview when I was down there from the bottom of my heart.

But never fear, this episode and all the others are available on iTunes and Stitcher for your listening pleasure. Leave a review and rating for a gold star*! You can swing by and talk to me via social media if you so choose; I am on Twitter, Instagram (sorry for any cat pics but our cat is super cute), and Facebook.

I’ve got a new batch of interviews in the works so stay tuned to see who turns up next! See you soon!

*a figurative gold star, sorry

Episode 16 – The Porter Beer Bar, Atlanta GA

Happy New Year, everyone!

The interview for this week’s episode is Molly Gunn of the Porter Beer Bar in Atlanta, GA. I used to live in Atlanta before I moved to Canada, and so that city is pretty near and dear to my heart. The Porter has one of the best beer lists in the city, in my opinion, as well as top notch eats. I’m sure if you’re an Atlantan, you are already familiar with them, but if you’re headed to the Dirty Dirty for any reason, make sure that they are on your stop-off list. Have you been to the Porter? What did you think? Drop me a line via email or on the Harpy Hour Twitter feed.

As usual, you can find me on iTunes and Stitcher for listening; you can also swing by the Instagram feed and the Facebook page. I’m slowly reviewing a massive European beer advent calendar so you can see pics of the weekly goodies there. If you would be so kind as to leave a review or a rating on iTunes, that helps out so much.

Also, if you’re in Kingston or the Eastern Ontario area, I’m assisting my friend Kristina Miller of The Alibi (my local preferred beer bar of choice) in an all-ladies beer fest on January 22nd! You can find ticket info here. Come out and say hi!
