Episode 40 – Alaskan Brewing Company

Alaska, you are awesome.

I wrap up my brief journey through the Last Frontier with an interview with Marcy Larson. She’s one of the co-founders of Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau. The oldest operating brewery in Alaska, they’re 31 years strong!

Find out more about their beers here, but definitely listen to the audio about their Hopothermia. (Incidentally, this is Marcy’s deserted island beer!) Drinking a double IPA sounds good right now as it’s chilly as heck here in Ontario and I need something to warm me up!

Look for Harpy Hour through Apple Podcasts and Stitcher. Say hello on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Call the Harpy Hour Hotline: 1-833-85-HARPY (1-833-854-2779). Obviously, toll-free in Canada and the US.

Head on to Arizona with me in November. We’ll definitely dispel desert cliches by talking beer with some of the state’s best. If you know a brewery there you’d like me to highlight, I’m all ears. Finally, thanks for listening; I appreciate it.

Happy Friday, everyone!

We continue with the 50 States Beer Project, with this month’s focus on Alabama. And seeing as how I have a certain interest in beer laws, I contacted Carie Partain of Free the Hops, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to educating Alabamans about current beer legislation. Because Carie is the current head of Free the Hops, she is perfect to talk to about it. I hope you all enjoy the interview with her as much as I did conducting it!

Same housekeeping as usual: listen to the show on Stitcher or Apple Podcasts. Review, rate, recommend, svp! Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Something to get off your chest? Call 1-833-85-HARPY (1-833-854-2779) and let me know! For example, I’d love to hear about the summer beers that rocked your world.

It seems like I should mention I will be on the Gender in the Beer Industry panel at the Food Feminism Fermentation conference at McGill University on September 30th. As a result of your support and word of mouth, I’m nervous and excited. Come out if you can. Say hi in person!

Most of all, thank you thank you thank you for listening.
