Show notes! I got yer show notes right here!

This week’s interview is Robin LeBlanc, one of the authors of the Ontario Craft Beer Guide. The 2nd edition drops in May so I have thoughtfully provided for you an Amazon link to make with the purchase. You can also find Robin at her personal website, the Thirsty Wench. If you especially like supporting independent beer journalism, head over to her Patreon.

You can find the show on iTunes and Stitcher, as well as listening here on the website. Do me a solid and leave a review or rating? I appreciate it.

I am all over the place online: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Untappd is also where I live but I can’t give you that link because I can’t remember my password (I just never log out). But I can be found there too!

Big thanks to everyone I talked to and hung out with this past Saturday! You made a good day great. See you all next week!

Episode 23 – Kingston Craft Beer Festival 2017 – UPDATED

Correction: Hi guys, I’m updating this as I had the incorrect list of brewers attending the festival. I apologize for the oversight. I’ve amended this entry to reflect the correct beer list. So sorry!

It’s April and April means the beer festival season BEGINS.

I’m headed to The Brooklyn’s annual Kingston Craft Beer Festival on the 8th and oh man, is it gonna be fun. Yes, it is sold out, but there might be tickets at the door. This week’s episode talks about what new breweries I’m looking forward to, beer styles I prefer, and why I wish I knew more about cider.

I promise in the episode that I would give you with a list of participating breweries (complete with links!). If you are a fan of any of them, let me know which ones. I want to know about some of the new-to-me ones I’ve mention.

Without further ado:

Whew! A lot breweries, sure, but most of all, a lot of noteworthy breweries. This list is subject to change, because beer festivals can be in flux. As a result, check online before heading over to avoid disappointment.

Find the show on iTunes and Stitcher. Connect with me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and on Untappd. Furthermore, if you see me at this festival, come say hi, and take a picture with me for the Instagram feed, yes? I will see you there!

Episode 21 – The Beer Sisters!

Hello there!

Well, as of last week, we’ve said goodbye to a few lovely breweries of the American South, and we return to highlighting the best and coolest of the Ontario craft beer scene. This week’s interview is with Crystal and Tara Luxmore, the Beer Sisters. Crystal is a Certified Cicerone whose beer musings can be found in outlets ranging from Toronto Life to the Globe and Mail. Her sister, Tara, is a Prud’homme Beer Sommelier as well as a professional cider judge. Together, they are a formidable powerhouse of beer knowledge! I was lucky enough to chat with them not too long ago; I hope you will enjoy it as they were both an absolute delight.

Of course, this episode and all episodes are available on iTunes and Stitcher; leaving a review and rating on either site helps me and the show grow, so thank you in advance! Seeing as how I love to chat about beer and beer-related ephemera, you can say hello via Twitter or Facebook. (You can also email me if that’s more your jam.) Sometimes I have pictures of beer on the Harpy Hour Instagram; sometimes I just like posting about our cat. I will also be posting mini-episodes about Beau’s FeBREWary throughout this month so if you subscribe, those will come straight to you!

Also, my co-producer has asked me to use the lovely Yeti mic in my home office instead of the digital portable mic so as to make sure the sound quality is excellent for your kind ears. So very sorry about the sound quality of the past two mini-episodes! As always, thank you thank you thank you for listening!

See ya next Monday!

Episode 9: Getting Beer From a Stone (City Ales, that is)

Aaand here I am sorry for the delay in a new episode! It won’t ever happen again, Girl Scout’s honour. (Okay, I was a Brownie. I don’t know why I never made it as an actual Girl Scout.)

I’m really excited about this episode because not only do I get to rave excitedly about my local, I get to talk to their newest assistant brewer, Kelly, while I do so. Well, actually, Kelly does most of the talking, while I do most of the adoring because Stone City Ales here in K-Town is making amazing beers. She and I got together over the Thanksgiving weekend (that would be Thanksgiving here in Canada, Americans) to chat about how she became passionately involved in beer and why San Diego should rightly be visited as a Beer Mecca.

So what are you waiting for?? Go have a listen! When you’re done, leave a review/rating over on iTunes, recommend me to some like-minded beery folks, and yes: I’m on the Twitter and on the Instagram. Come say hi! You’ll definitely want to stay connected this way as I’m off to the Southeastern US for a heavy brewery/interview tour!

A special shout-out to the following lovely breweries for providing me with beer and smiles on the longish drive back from Port Perry to Kingston:
